Buying Generic Gas Won't Hurt Your Car

Buying Generic Gas Won't Hurt Your Car

Once you have purchased your vehicle from Bill Jacobs, you have to determine what kind of gasoline will be used fuel the vehicle. Now that gas has steadily increased over the last few years, many people have been looking for any solution to help stop the bleeding in the wallet from the high prices.

One solution is purchasing gas from a generic station and not from the top gasoline companies. Many people have considered this alternative but are afraid that the gas quality isn't as great as a Mobil or Shell. There really isn't a difference between the top brands and the generic brands.

In California, all gasoline is required to meet a certain standard. This makes each brand no different then the next. Many of the gas refiners trade gasoline and it is put in the same tank. What separates the different kinds of gas are the chemicals they add to it. The chemicals are being added after it has been distributed out; so the gas is all the same at the start.

There have also been investigations into the differences of generic and brand name gasoline at the 87 octane level. They found no major differences and it was all pretty much exactly the same; only the additives and detergent changed the gas.

The bottom line is that buying generic gas won't hurt your Bill Jacobs automobile and you can save some cash as well; who wouldn't want that?
