Car Washing Basics

Many people wash their vehicle less than once a month and some never wash their car. Washing your car is one of the easiest things you can do to keep it looking great and in good condition.

Here are the supplies you will need to wash your vehicle:

  • A finish-safe wheel cleaner
  • One soft brush
  • One 3-5 gallon bucket
  • Liquid car washing soap
  • A hose, preferably with a pistol nozzle
  • Car washing mitts or towels
  • A few cotton towels for drying or a specially made synthetic one

To wash your car, you will need to rinse every area off and this will include the wheels and bumpers. Then use the stiff brush to clean the wheels with the tire cleaner.

When washing your car, concentrate on one area at a time. Then you should rinse the soap off and move to the next section. When you rinse it is best to start from the top so the water will run off towards the bottom.

If you would like your car to be free of water spots dry it with clean cotton towels or synthetic cloths designed for that use. You can now wax your vehicle to help protect the finish and make further washing easier.
