Organize your Garage

If you are like most Americans, your garage is probably cluttered with all sorts of tools, boxes, bicycles, and other random articles. Many people want their garages to be more functional and look better. They also want it to be an extended area of their home that people feel comfortable in.

When you have made the decision to organize your garage, there are a few things you need to take into account.

What is the goal of your organization project? What do you want to focus on? If you don't have much time to spare, it is probably best you divide the parts into small tasks, where each one can be completed over a couple weekends.

Start by organizing your items by category. Create a pile of boxes for yard related materials, one for hand tools, and etc. How regularly do you use some of your items? This is very important to your organization.

One of the best things you can do is clean your floors really well. Sweep up items and shop-vac what you can't sweep.

Another thing you can do to your floors is resurface them. A rust-oleum flooring shielder will help protect your garage from all the spills and dirt. Or you can add a garage floor mat. These are very safe and last a long time. They also make garages look ten times better.

If you need help organizing, you can use a variety of things to help. Pegboards, shelving, bins, hooks, and anything else that is out there. Look online or go to your local home improvement store and there will be dozens of options for you. The best thing you can do is get items off the floor.

When you are placing items back in your new organizational spaces, keep them in their proper categories. Labels will also help you keep track of where things are put.

Don't go back to your old ways, try your best to keep it neat and clean.
