Tips to Save Money on Gasoline

Gas prices don't seem to be going down anytime soon and Bill Jacobs wants to help you stop wasting money on the preventable fuel use. You can add some change back into your pocket and extra miles per gallon by following a few easy steps. These car maintenance tips are sure to help you save.

  • Gasoline caps- Almost 20% of the people driving today don't have the proper gas cap. It can be broken, loose, or not there. Because of this over 140 million gallons of gasoline vaporized and gone; poof!
  • Tire pressure- If your tires are inflated to capacity it hits your wallet big time. This will cost you about 2 miles per gallon. Check them every couple weeks.
  • Spark plugs- Change spark plugs often and you will save on gasoline as well. Automobiles can have up to eight spark plugs and they fire thousands of times which leave heat, electrical, and chemical erosion. Any spark plugs that aren't clean will cause misfiring and this wastes your fuel.
  • 4 Air filters- If you have a dirty air filter it should be changed immediately. Every piece of dirt and dust will cut off the air and cause a high amount of gas to be burned for the small amount of air. Your wasting gas and your engine is losing power when this happens. If you replace the filter, you can improve your gas mileage by 10%.
